Making A Difference We believe in growing our community as well as our gardens Elmhurst Park District Adopt-A-Park The club is an active participant helping to encourage the community to work hands-on to help keep Elmhurst’s parks clean, safe and attractive through debris pick-up and landscape suggestions. The club has adopted The Wilder Park in Elmhurst and provides volunteers to enhance and maintain the gardens. PLANT RESCUE The club works with local contractors or homeowners to rescue plants that would otherwise be wiped out due to new or existing home construction. Armed with buckets & shovels, members work together to find new homes for the rescued plants at our annual sale. Supporting Non-Profits Each year the club donates a percentage of its annual Plant Sale proceeds to support community efforts that align with its mission. Below are a few of the past donations: Illinois: University of Illinois Extension Master Gardeners DuPage / Local Counties: Elmhurst -Yorkfield Food Pantry Glenbard Transition Greenhouse (Glenbard High School) Great Western Prairie The GardenWorks Project (West Chicago) We Grow Dreams Greenhouse & Garden Center (West Chicago) Willowbrook Wildlife Center (Glen Ellyn) College of DuPage Horticulture Scholarship Elmhurst: Heaven & Earth Grower’s Garden of the Elmhurst Presbyterian Church OLI Gardens The Conservation Foundation Elmhurst-Yorkfield Food Pantry Since 2017, the club collects items from members and donating them on a quarterly basis to the Elmhurst-Yorkfield Food Pantry to help serve residents of our local communities. The club also collects financial contributions for the pantry at its annual member holiday party.
